Del.icio.us for those who don’t know is a social bookmarking website. You can save all your bookmarks to del.icio.us and also tag various websites/blogs/content to other users. (notice my del.icio.us feed on the right of my website) I HIGHLY encourage you use it, so please tag articles for:jmurch and I will check them out. You can also add me to your inbox just by adding my username, jmurch or subscribe to my RSS Feed.
Thanks to my Friend Steve Cavrak for posting all those interesting finds to my del.icio.us feed. Yesterday I checked out an interesting article about Social Browsing. It made me think about the various ways we recieve information outside of just running to Google and going through the results.
Since most of us have a del.icio.us, flickr, web 2.0 account we tag content and organize it for easy search and reference.(for all otheres, read 2 paragraphs down) By doing this we are cleaning up the internet and allowing search engines to easily find what we are searching for by tags rather then a mathmatical search algorithm.
About 2 months ago I wanted to create a tag based search engine. I came across TagBulb but felt that this was only the start of the tag revolution. We need to take the next step of sharing information by Social Browsing. It drives me nuts when I find an answer to a problem for one of my friends on a website, but they do not have a del.icio.us account.
Maybe del.icio.us needs to setup some API for email a “friend”. We can add friends and their emails into a system and tag articles to them that sends them out via email. So If I found a great article for my Mom I could just tag a link friend:mom and it would email the link to her. I guess this is yet another idea and project that I would like to see done, but probably never will. ![]()
