Yesterday I came across a cool looking bookcase that has its own cave. After seeing the awesome pictures I was wondering if I could pick one up for my next apartment. Well, I then saw the $10,695 price and thought, maybe I could build this. I know antics would want something like this for his apartment and many others I know.
Anyway, I was thinking what if we took this project and made it like a IKEA kit. We build a prototype get some pictures up on a website and sell it as a DIY kit. This would cut down on cost and allow for people to have their very cool bookcase and cave. From a legal perspective I am not sure if this product is patented, but I know of a couple of improments that I would want to make considering I am a little over 6′2.
What do you guys think, would you want something like this in your house or is it a little to childish? Considering I am an Uncle now this might be a project that I would want to build for my niece. Hey, we could even sell it to Ikea or college students as a couch/study area.
