Well, its a no go for ycombinator, but another company is interested in the idea. Applying for the “funding” was more of a last second decision then a planned one. I am pretty sure the reason we got rejected was the time frame in building our project and not everyone in our group was going to move to boston. Oh well, at least I can now attend GORUCO
As for funding and projects, I might just fund myself and take a jump into the startup world. I consider myself self employed due to the fact I am a consultant, but I want to take it the next step. When you think about how people get paid, time = money is just DUMB! This means you only make money when you WORK, you DO NOT make money when you go home and sleep. Seperating the business into a way to drive income without requiring my presents would allow me to work on my own projects while paying the bills with the income.
This was my plan a couple of months ago, release a website try and have it pay one of my bills and start the next project. I have come to the reason that I need to think bigger. If I am going to invest a lot of my time I want a large reward at the end of the tunnel. This does not mean I am greedy and am just in it for the buck, but I do want to set myself up so I can live comfortable.
Anyway, I am rambling on, it was been one hell of a weekend and last week. Applying to Y combinator in basically 1 day and talking about selling our idea and/or consulting in another location, ugh!
I do hope the people who did get accepted to fly out to Mountain View pass the next round. I hope to see Y Combinator producing a lot of interesting startups that will get out to the masses and not the techsavy like reddit. As for what I will do next, stay tune I hope to make a decision in the next month. Let me know if someone is looking for a skilled web 2.0 php/mysql (soon Ruby on Rails) programmer who knows technology and whats happening on the blogosphere.
