Today started out like many, but seemed move towards hell at lunch. My brother stopped by the house during lunch time asked if I was hungry. We thought about having pizza and thought, simple enough Ill call dominos. Before calling, my bother and I thought about maybe having 2 medium 1 topping pizzas, fair enough. I check out dominos website and noticed the 555 deal. Get 3 or more medium 1 topic pizzas for $5 each. I call them up and ask about their deals and noticed that they DO NOT have the 555 deal or ANY OTHER corporate deals. So why is this a dominos and not a [insert name here] pizza? I told them I wanted a 555 deal that was advertised on the website and it was rudefully explained to me that this specific domino’s that I was ordering from DOES NOT offer that and ONLY offers a 777 deal. Thats 3 medium pizzas 1 topping for $7 each, or a rip off of $2. I was blown away, thinking I might have called the wrong number, I asked if this was dominos. The employee responded, yes, this is dominos. They I continued to explain I am on dominos pizza’s website and see the 555 deal and would like it. They domino’s person explained that they do not offer it and continued to be rude and offer no specific reason to why their specific dominos store does not offer the 555 deal. At this point I gave in and said no thank you I will goto Papa John’s. (better pizza, gotta love the garlic sauce!)
Blogging about this encounter now, I started to think about how many dominos pizza I have ordered over the last 10 years. Before going to college, let alone the amount of pizza (at least 2 to 3 orders a week my freshman year) and how this Dominos was just so rudefully trying to rip me off. I just could not believe it!
As some of you know I was the UVM IEEE President for 3 years and almost always used Dominos. The dominos that I used was the first dominos to be open outside of Michigan when the franchise started!!! Yes I am a big enough dominos fanboy to know that kind of history! I just can not believe that this Dominos, which I have used almost my entire life (before college at least) was trying to rip me off! So I did what any other person would do, complain! I wrote an email on dominos website which is run on lotus note by the way (error the first time submitting the complaint, I think they need a geek guru over there at corporate!). Anyway, I received what looked like a common reply email and nothing explaining why this store offers a 777 and not a 555 deal. I just do not get it and think that I need to take a stronger stand. From this point out I am forced to give up Dominos!!! Yes the fast food nut inside me is taking a stand and needs to give a big $@%!@@# YOU to DOMINOS!!! I will not order, buy, or par take in any eating of dominos pizza from now on! I refuse to deal with a company that is letting a store get away with this! Please help me by joining in on this boycott and stick it to the man, DOMINOS! If every person who reads this blog stops ordering from dominos for the month of June (more if needed) we can finally stick it to the man and show them the power of the internet! I just don’t get it, if I was operating a business or having 1 store in a franchise that ruins the brand, I would change or terminate that store ASAP. If you have any horror stories about Dominos I would love to hear about them! Please comment below and contact corporate via their website.
