Today started out like many, but seemed move towards hell at lunch. My brother stopped by the house during lunch time asked if I was hungry. We thought about having pizza and thought, simple enough Ill call dominos. Before calling, my bother and I thought about maybe having 2 medium 1 topping pizzas, fair enough. I check out dominos website and noticed the 555 deal. Get 3 or more medium 1 topic pizzas for $5 each. I call them up and ask about their deals and noticed that they DO NOT have the 555 deal or ANY OTHER corporate deals. So why is this a dominos and not a [insert name here] pizza? I told them I wanted a 555 deal that was advertised on the website and it was rudefully explained to me that this specific domino’s that I was ordering from DOES NOT offer that and ONLY offers a 777 deal. Thats 3 medium pizzas 1 topping for $7 each, or a rip off of $2. I was blown away, thinking I might have called the wrong number, I asked if this was dominos. The employee responded, yes, this is dominos. They I continued to explain I am on dominos pizza’s website and see the 555 deal and would like it. They domino’s person explained that they do not offer it and continued to be rude and offer no specific reason to why their specific dominos store does not offer the 555 deal. At this point I gave in and said no thank you I will goto Papa John’s. (better pizza, gotta love the garlic sauce!)
Blogging about this encounter now, I started to think about how many dominos pizza I have ordered over the last 10 years. Before going to college, let alone the amount of pizza (at least 2 to 3 orders a week my freshman year) and how this Dominos was just so rudefully trying to rip me off. I just could not believe it!
As some of you know I was the UVM IEEE President for 3 years and almost always used Dominos. The dominos that I used was the first dominos to be open outside of Michigan when the franchise started!!! Yes I am a big enough dominos fanboy to know that kind of history! I just can not believe that this Dominos, which I have used almost my entire life (before college at least) was trying to rip me off! So I did what any other person would do, complain! I wrote an email on dominos website which is run on lotus note by the way (error the first time submitting the complaint, I think they need a geek guru over there at corporate!). Anyway, I received what looked like a common reply email and nothing explaining why this store offers a 777 and not a 555 deal. I just do not get it and think that I need to take a stronger stand. From this point out I am forced to give up Dominos!!! Yes the fast food nut inside me is taking a stand and needs to give a big $@%!@@# YOU to DOMINOS!!! I will not order, buy, or par take in any eating of dominos pizza from now on! I refuse to deal with a company that is letting a store get away with this! Please help me by joining in on this boycott and stick it to the man, DOMINOS! If every person who reads this blog stops ordering from dominos for the month of June (more if needed) we can finally stick it to the man and show them the power of the internet! If you have any horror stories about Dominos I would love to hear about them! Please comment below and contact corporate via their website.

I just don’t get it, if I was operating a business or having 1 store in a franchise that ruins the brand, I would change or terminate that store ASAP. If you have any horror stories about Dominos I would love to hear about them! Please comment below and contact corporate via their website.

Man I hate it when crap like that happens. I am all in for the ban. Stick with Pizza Pizza or Pizza Hut for this guy.
No I am completely hungry. . . . .
I used to join you in college eating domino’s alot. I CANT believe how they treated you!! I am with you on the ban not to eat Domino’s!! I hope you get lots of people to join in!!
Although I can understand your frustrations, the 555 deal ended nationally over a week ago. Each store now has the option of carrying this offer for an extended period or not. Most of the franchisees, including myself, have stopped the 555 as it was a limited time offer. The Domino’s CORPORATE stores may still honor the deal, but because of the incredibly high price of cheese right now, the 555 deal doesn’t make sense for many stores to keep it. Each store has plenty of specials, just not one that offers 3 pizzas for 1/2 price. It was a limited time offer. The website promotes the national offer, but the disclaimer clearly states that it is for participating stores only after the promo period. Do you flip out on McDonald’s when their limited offer sandwiches and specials stop, no, you don’t. Please think of how many people; drivers, managers, etc who you are affecting when you decide to do something like this. The store you spoke to treated you terribly. You should get some free pizzas for being treated rudely. Although it was not me, I apologize. They should have explained the situation to you in a courteous and respectful manner. Don’t hurt the whole, just because of the one! We all work so hard to be the best we can be for our families and our customers…………
Sorry! You posted on May 21st. You absolutely should’ve got the 555 Deal. No excuses. My other point still stands, though. You had great experiences in the past ordering a few times a week! One store screwed up. Does that change the fact that you had so many positive experiences and that so many others still do? Please understand that we all know the power of the internet. And, I respect your right to use that power as you see fit! Innocent, hard working people don’t need to suffer to prove it!
Thanks for the comments, I am guessing your a Domino’s rep of some kind, but use a hotmail address? Does Domino’s not have email?
Anyway, you have NO IDEA about my feelings towards McDonald’s because I have not posted about them, yet. Also, if you are a rep, as you have posted, I should receive some FREE Domino’s pizza, extra food (cheese bread), swag, etc. BUT I HAVE NOT! The tone and additude I received from the local dominos was not only unproffesional but is a major problem with your customer support. The fact is, yes this dominos does NOT KNOW HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS as well as THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT! I tried to submit my problem and got a Lotus Notes Error, but after the 3rd time of submitting it… it FINALLY went through. I also received a couple of “pregenerated” emails as well as a small follow up email, but never FOLLOWED UP! I need to get my point across to Domino’s and how I can still goto http://www.dominos.com/ and see the 555 deal, but have no idea that its up to the owner of that particular dominos on if they have it or no. WTF? Its a franchise, act the same, or NOT AT ALL!!! YOU ARE CONFUSING YOUR CUSTOMERS, STOP DOING THAT!
I will be posting up some follow ups as well as some CUSTOMER SUPPORT 411 stories for the REPS who READ THIS!
I ordered Dominos tonight! (Sorry, didn’t see your site until just now.) I agree, you shoulda got some free food, without a doubt. Luckily, our Dominos has the 555 deal. If they didn’t, I’d order from the pizzaria, like I did before.
Hmmm, I think either the rep or the caller was very confused. Domino’s offers a 555 deal three or more medium pizzas with one topping (which is now the $5.55 a pizza due to inflation and the raise of minimum wage). The 777 deal is three or more LARGE pizzas with one topping (at $7.00 each). Is this is a franchise store or a corporate store? All franchise stores are run anyway they want because they are independently owned and operated and do not necessarily represent the corporate interests or promotions.
I wouldn’t give up on Domino’s. You’re gonna miss their sauce!!!
Pizza Pizza? Little Caesar’s? This pizza is so cheap and tasteless–comparable to what you can make in your toaster oven.
Thanks for the commit Lori. I am excited to say that I have been Domino’s FREE since this post! I am also happy to post that I average 100 to 200 visits from the Google search 555 deal and Dominos. Dominos does not understand what “bad customer service” can do to a business.
As for the sauce, yea I have moved on and actually feel more in love with Papa John’s. Their garlic sauce is by far the best and amazing with their Pizza.
Although this has recently hit me, but while I was in NYC area, I just love local real pizza. As for out here in Arizona, theirs a couple of great places with thin crust like, 5 Crash Course Tips in Viral Marketing - John Murch the Self Proclaimed Geek Guru says:
