iPhone Hack for SMS

Well, if your like me and hate paying for services that you can have for free here is a great tip. So you have your new iPhone and setup Gmail or other pop/imap email service, but was still wondering if 200 sms(text messages) was enough, have no fear I have the ultimate answer. So most of the people you sms or text u know what service they have. (Verizon, Cingularat&t, Sprint, etc). Well today while talking to some Apple employees and at&t customers asking about their sms and email service. Well if you don’t know you can send an email to a friend that shows up as a sms or text message.

Here is how you do it dependent on the service. You send an email from your iPhone to your friends number [10 digit number]@ their mobile service dot com. So if you have a friend at verizon you would send an email to xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com and they would get an sms and could reply and give you an email. I borrowed the quick listing of all the domains used for texting for most carriers in the US.

Example: 2125552555@message.alltel.co

    AT&T Wireless’s official email-to-SMS address format is:

    2125551212@txt.att.net

Makes sense and works even better because no SMS fees! I work for Mosio, a mobile community that lets you text any question and have it answered by real people.

The iPhone doesn’t let you send an SMS to an email address, but that works just fine for iPhone users because they just send an email (you text the question to ask[[at]]mosio.com)

    Thanks for posting the hack!

Is there a 3rd party sms app? i really hate having to send the same text message one at a type to people. The one to many text would be nice.

    How about this one,

Send a text from an email address to any 10 digit number@telelip.com (2125551212@teleflip.com) and no matter what carrier teleflip automatically routes it to them instantly and for free!!, try it on yourself its amazing works every time, freakin great, why pay for texts? Best part is that they can even reply just by hitting reply the same way they would a regular text, streamlined so well…
