Yes, I have joined the hippies and bought myself a new hybrid car! For the past year (about) I have NOT had a car. I have been driving family/friends cars as well as A LOT of public transportation. I sold my 2005 Subuaru WRX STI Crystal Grey Metallic last summer before leaving for a nice journey to Europe. After getting back from Europe I was not sure where I would end up. I felt that I did NOT need a car right away and would wait til I found out where I would live for a bit.
Well after a bunch of jobs interviews as well as various tentative plans, I keeped delaying getting a car. It’s funny it took me almost a year to make this decison and now I have made up my mind. I am moving to Arizona and choose a Prius as my daily driver. I do plan to pickup a weeekend car, either cheap drifting car or something nice and fun like a used BMW M3.
Anyway, I pickuped my 2007 Toyota Prius with GPS Navigation/Backup Camera/Leather/etc, the package 6 option. I connected my iPhone, but was unable to transfer the phonebook due to the LOCKING of the bluetooth profile ($&#@ you very much APPLE, please unlock!). Then again, I guess I should focus on hacking the bluetooth profile on the iPhone and get it up and running!
After picking up my Prius I noticed the alignment is a bit off so I dropped it back off and should have it fixed by tomorrow, but I will be back on the east coast and have my friend pick it up for me. I guess it kinda pisses me off that no one noticed it, but the car is planning to sit there for the two weeks while I am in NJ/NY/CT. I know a couple of people will test drive it, but no worries.
So I am moving west and need to pack as well as visit with friends/family while I am still on the east coast.
I have a couple of issues with the Prius and will be posting a review of it after I have broken it in. I have only driven about 150 miles with it, just around the Phoneix area. Do you have a Prius, please comments your pro/cons/etc about them.

Hi, I just saw ur little article about ur blue Prius online, I really want to get one too, just wondering how much u paid for ur prius, so i have an idea to bargain with the car dealer. btw, I only need a package 2 option, if you have any idea how much that would cost, please let me know, thank you very much.
Hello,
Thanks for the comment. I paid MSRP and got some tax credit off mine. As for the package 2 I do not know. Sorry
Hope it goes well, let me know how you enjoy it!
Hi, I just purchased a white 2007 Prius Package #2=#23,569. I received no credits as my wife & I have leased toyotas since 1988. Prius are so in demand that inour area there are no price cuts. One is on a waiting line to get one. I like the car very much. I have some questions about it though. One has to learn how to drive all over again. No jack rabbit starts, & no sustained driving over 70 MPH., if you want to get good milage. I have about 2,000 mile on ours. I have been getting 52.5,53.5,40.22,37,& the last fill up was 66.12. I have some concern about the consistancy of the milage. Have called the dealer about this. The best speed to get good milage is from 30 to 45 MPH. I haave learned that one must accelerate to 25 or 30 quite rapidly, then back off. This gives much better milage in the city. My wife has learned this in the past 2 weeks & this has helped a lot. When u drive 310 miles on 4.64 gal. that is fun. If u plan to be a hot rod driver don’t buy a Prius. It will squeel the tires on pedal to the metal though. HA!!!

I own a 2001 Prius (classic) and yes, mileage varies A LOT! Drive all freeway and 45-55mpg is common, drive the freeway at 50 and you may get 65mpg. Up mountain roads, get 15, down mountain roads get 99 . Still, My average before my new job (20 miles to & from work each day) was about 43. My average driving now, 6 miles to work (new job) is now 35. Still, I drive to work & home three days on a gallon, very economical.
In short, the mileage varies A LOT but if you drive the same way and style daily, over time it will be consistent within 2-3mpg. Change roads & also seasonal summer/winter and there can be an 8mpg difference. Get used to it.
By the way, the “B” position is for engine braking that turns the engine on full-time. It can be used at any speed (even at 90mph) as the car has a ‘one speed’ transmission. This means using the engine to brake while driving down a hill on mountain roads is very practical and OK to use. Shift to ‘DRIVE’ the rest of the time.
