Did get that big TV for the Super Bowl this year? Thinking about it, need to go HDTV? Well thanks to our Tax dollars, the government is giving away money. Yes, you could be eligible for up to $80 towards buying a HDTV. I find it funny that the government is pushing these “tv convert boxes” that don’t exist. You see, back in Feb 1, 2006 the FCC was gonna stop broadcasting NTSC, which means that if you had a TV with an antenna, it would stop working. You would need to go out and either purchase this fictional box, upgrade to a HDTV, or rely on a cable/dish option. This is much like the switch with black and white to color. Since then, the FCC has pushed it to February 17, 2009. I will be blogging about this more as the deadline approaches, but basically its a scheme for the FCC to “make even more money” by forcing all the “over the air” channels to switch to HDTV, making everyone and their grandma “buy” a new HDTV and then sell that spectrum to wireless carriers, to give us faster “more crippled” internet. (Yea, I could rant about this all day.) So if you haven’t take a look at getting your HDTV rebate and go out and pickup a nice big HDTV for the Game.
The Super Bowl this year will be in Phoenix and it has created a lot of buzz/building in the area. It should be a fun weekend, might drive out and do some tail gating myself. Lots of parties!
