Marketing a product is hard, but marketing a product in a down economy is sometimes impossible.
I am a big Steve Colbert fan! Yes, I do watch the Daily Show, but Steven Colbert just is genius with his marketing campaigns. I do not understand why more companies and television shows are not taking this course of action. During a recent interview with Lawrence Lessig on Colbert Report the discussing of copyright policy and Lessig’s new book Remix was discussed.
I would be very angry and possible litigious if anyone would to take this interview right here and remix it with some great dance beats
For Example: Remixing is Okay – Steve Colbert
To me, this concept of remixing content is WHAT MARKETERS SHOULD BE TELLING PEOPLE TO DO! Just look at some examples, such as NIN who offered 400GB of FREE HD Concert footage! Companies and TV shows that want to stay ahead need to create more interaction and join the conversation. Give up some of that content and let us have some fun with it, better yet we will create better content then you can product and increase brand awareness.
So America, I am just saying take some marketing steps from Steven Colbert the next time you want to spread the word.
