The old saying goes, “CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS”. For myself and many others I talk to, cleaning is an active way to get things done. If you feel you have reached the slump of being unmotivated or in need some inspiration, start cleaning! Seriously, it sounds funny, but try it this week or upcoming weekend. The act of cleaning is a active way to accomplish a task in a short amount of time. An active task is one that requires movement or thought. A passive task would not, such as watching TV or listening to music. Cleaning is not only an active task, but a fast way to accomplish something. When in need of motivation, go clean something, it will make you feel so much better and might give you that push to get something else done!
Cleaning and/or rearranging furniture also creates a sense of something new. For many, change and/or something new is a big deal. If you make a slight change like move your couch and tv around in the living room, I guarantee you will get a bit a spark of energy and maybe even move from the slump into being motivated.
This is also a great way to get chores done around the house. When you have been coding for 8 hours straight and need a short break, do something like cleaning or laundry, that breath of fresh air and mindless act helps refocus your brain by giving it a break.
